FSC Trademark Training FSC-STD-50-001 (V2-0)

Mike, Charlotte and Amy have all now successfully completed the FSC® Trademark Training FSC-STD-50-001 (V2-0), and are able to approve your trademark usage in line with the new Standard.

FSC-STD-50-001 (V2-0)  became effective as of the 1st of March 2018, and Certificate holders are now able to use the FSC® trademarks on products and promotional materials following the revised Standard.

Remember to submit your intended uses of the FSC® trademarks to your Certification Body for approval, prior to them being put into use on products, packaging or promotional material.

Among the changes implemented in the new standard, is the introduction of a Trademark Use Management System as an alternative to submitting intended uses of the FSC® trademarks to the certification body for approval. Also reduced size requirements for all marks, and greater flexibility in choosing labelling elements.

If you would like to know more about the new trademark standard then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us, by either calling us on 01952 288325, initiating a live chat on our website here, or using our Contact Us Form. Alternatively you can visit the FSC® website at http://www.fsc-uk.org/en-uk

If you would like to submit your trademark usage to us for approval, then please send your request to our dedicated e-mail address for this logo@interface-nrm.co.uk

If you do not currently hold FSC®  Certification but would like to find out more about this, then please get in touch and one of our team would be more than happy to assist you.

PEFC Collaboration Fund

PEFC Collaboration Fund Competition Is Now Open

The PEFC collaboration fund competition is now open!

Following on from the 2017 PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue, there appeared to be no question that forest certification needs to embrace modern innovations & technology. In response to this, through the PEFC collaboration fund they are seeking to support members and their partner organisations in their efforts to embrace technology innovation within certification.

What are they looking for?

Ambitious solutions to tackle critical issues like making certification more accessible for smallholders, creating innovative approaches for auditing and data collection, or imagining new ways to engage consumers on sustainability.

They want projects that pioneer new applications of technology and innovation that show promise of new solutions for:

  • Engaging and leveraging society for sustainable forestry
  • Strengthening trust and traceability throughout value chains
  • Creating efficient and accessible sustainable forest management certification
  • Evolving certification processes, data collection and impact measurement

Are you interested in getting involved?

PEFC members, both national members and international stakeholder members, are eligible to apply and must be the main project applicant. Project partners may include all kind of organisations, including private and public sector organisations.

Proposals can request a contribution of up to 50,000 CHF and must have a maximum project time frame of 3 years. The fund will support new and additional activities rather than existing, ongoing work and running costs. Grantees must provide evidence of at least 35% co funding from other sources within the overall project.

You can find out more about this on the PEFC website here.

Are You Considering Changing Your Plastic Items For Paper?

Are You Considering Changing Your Plastic Items For Paper? If So Please Make Sure You Read This First

We have seen over the last few weeks many organisations, even the government announcing ways they will play their part in reducing the amount of plastic we see in our landfills, Countryside & Oceans.

This only means one thing, and that is that everyone will start moving towards more recyclable ways of packaging/distributing their items using such things as paper and cardboard.

If this is something you are thinking of implementing into your business then this is a great move. However, before you do so have you ensured that this packaging is coming from a sustainable source? If not then you most certainly should, as if it is not then this could have a major impact on our environment.

If your paper, card or wood fibre based products or packaging are not responsibly sourced they can contribute to deforestation; depleting the largest terrestrial store of atmospheric carbon on the planet.

What Is a Chain of Custody?

Chain of Custody Certification means that the product you are using is from a sustainable source. It means that it is checked at every stage of the process, so that anybody purchasing these products can be confident that they are Chain of Custody Certified.

Did you know that 55% of people in the UK have a preference for products that carry a Chain of Custody trademark?

At Interface NRM we are able to offer both FSC and/or PEFC Chain of Custody Certification, and can assist you with any questions you may have. We can be called on 01952 288325, you can initiate a live chat from our website, or fill in our contact us form.

You can also learn more about this on our website here.

Iceland Foods and McDonald’s Packaging Pledge

Iceland Foods and McDonald's Packaging Pledge

McDonald’s have said that all of its packaging worldwide will come from sustainable sources by 2025, and Iceland Foods have promised that there own label packaging will be free of plastics by the end of 2023.

McDonald’s is already aiming for all of its paper and card packaging, such as burger boxes or paper bags, to come from recycled or certified sources where no deforestation occurs by 2020.

Iceland Foods new ranges will be packaged using a paper-based tray, rather than plastic.

This is a huge move forwards for 2 big names on our high streets, but is one that we hope will roll out across all industries in the not too distant future.

Iceland Foods Managing Director Richard Walker said ‘The onus is on retailer, as leading contributors to plastic packaging pollution and waste to take a stand and deliver meaningful change. Other supermarkets, and the retail industry as a wholes, should follow suit and offer similar commitments during 2018. This is a time for collaboration’.

Here at Interface NRM we offer both FSC® and PEFC™ Certification, which ensures that from forest to end-user, the materials have been traced at every stage, and the logos allow customers to identify that the products they purchase come from well-managed forests with high ethical standards.

One of our dedicated team would be more than happy to assist you with any questions you may have about FSC® and/or PEFC™ Certification. We can be contacted on 01952 288325, you can initiate an online chat or you can complete our contact us form.
